πππ *Chia seeds and type 2 diabetes* Chia seeds are ‘superfood’, full of fibre, omega 3, protein, vitamins and minerals, ‘complete’ food source eaten. πΏπΏπΏ Chia seeds reduce high blood sugar levels-consumption of Chia seeds on a regular basis had good digestibility and it had a hypoglycemic effect- Less Blood Sugar. Chia seeds decreased post-meal blood sugar levels dose-and also REDUCED appetite. πΊπΊπΊ Rich in Omega 3 that controls insulin levels-Chia seeds are a rich source of Ξ± linolenic acid. Insulin is a hormone produced by cells in the pancreas, they help in regulating blood sugar. Consumption of Chia seeds there was an improvement in the metabolic abnormality. Chia seeds also prevented the onset of insulin resistance. πΉπΉπΉ The high Fiber content in Chia seeds lowers blood sugar levels. The high fiber content of Chia seed also slows down the conversion of carbohydrates into sugars and helps to keep the blood glucose at normal levels. π»π»π» Oxidative stress is related to high sugar levels and insulin resistance. Also, since it is high in fibre, suddenly including too much of chia seeds in our diet may lead to constipation. It is best to consume ground chia seeds or soaked chia seeds. Avoid consuming water immediately after consuming dry chia seeds as it may cause swelling and choking. π₯π₯π₯ Soak Chia Seeds: mix them in a 1:10 ratio chia to water. That’s about 1.5 tablespoons chia seeds in one cup of water. It does not have to be exact, but want it to gel and not be too watery. Then let them sit for about 30 minutes to 2 hours. chia seeds can hold up to 12 times its weight in water, they are wonderful to prevent dehydration. If choose not to soak them, then they can also absorb water during digestion. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep body hydrated. Soak them in coconut milk or almond milk with cinnamon and spices for a delicious chia pudding. πΈπΈπΈ
